SALES SPACE 1000m2 - industrial style

The ground floor of a newly built building at the entrance to the town Samobor houses a 1000-square-meter retail space specialized in sale of paints, varnishes, and construction equipment.

Before the construction of the building began, we took on the role of interior design and worked in collaboration with the clients and architect to develop ideas and shape the new space.

The concept was to divide the large store into zones that blend into each other, each highlighted with its own visual uniqueness, while still encompassing a cohesive whole. The space was aesthetically tailored to the profile of the customers, mainly construction workers and craftsmen. The materials used included metal, compact laminate, and wood for the furniture, and epoxy flooring for durability and strength to handle heavy objects such as paint cans, ladders, lawnmowers, and carts.

The predominant color scheme features gray raw concrete on the walls and ceiling, black shelves with vividly colored displays presented on dark backgrounds, and the Paint Mixing area is accentuated with a colored suspended ceiling.

In another part of the store, specific zones are further emphasized: a space for presenting decorative techniques with large panels organized around a round counter, creating a "mini-house" structure made of perforated metal plates that resemble a "roof." This area is designed as a place for architects, interior designers, and other customers.

The work range we carried out includes (in brief):

  • Authentically designed interior in an industrial design style with the intention of preserving the exposed raw concrete walls and ceilings as the foundation of the aesthetics. Spatial organization of different areas within the store: area with easily flammable merchandise, paint mixing section, presentation area for decorative techniques, sales area for protective clothing and footwear, defining specific areas for displaying items on shelves such as wood paints, metal paints, tools, etc.

  • Designing the layout of the restroom, office area, and entrance hallway with stairs.

  • Selection of flooring materials, ceiling solutions, and defining colors for walls and ceilings.

  • Creating furniture designs for showcasing merchandise (information counter, decorative technique counter, clothing and footwear cabinets, paint mixing counter, cash register counter, built-in cabinets, office workstations, partitions, and furniture in the restroom).

  • Selection of ready-made equipment.

  • Positioning of lighting and other electrical installations and choosing lighting fixtures (a technical lighting calculation was performed in collaboration with a lighting supplier).

  • Communication with craftsmen and contractors.

The result is a space where the spirit of construction is evident at every step, enriched with functional furniture serving as a backdrop for numerous displays to effectively present a wide range of products to customers. It has become a place where additional information is provided, offering diverse possibilities for utilizing existing and innovative materials and tools to bring the ideas of architects, designers, and other creatives to life.
